Architectural Tours

Architectural Tours

The buildings on the Vitra Campus are unique architectural icons – it was here that Zaha Hadid executed her very first built structure, for example, and American architect Frank Gehry constructed his first building in Europe. For this reason, the Vitra Design Museum not only offers guided tours of its exhibitions, but also tours of the buildings on the Vitra Campus. These include the Fire Station by Zaha Hadid (1993), the Conference Pavilion by Tadao Ando (1993), a geodesic dome after Richard Buckminster Fuller (1975/2000), and factory buildings by Nicholas Grimshaw (1981/1986), Frank Gehry (1989), Álvaro Siza (1994) and SANAA (2012). The VitraHaus (2010), designed by Herzog & de Meuron, can be viewed from the outside during the tour, and its interior can be explored independently. The Vitra Campus comprises a public and a private area. In the public space, you will find the Vitra Design Museum, the VitraHaus and the Vitra Silde Tower on the Álvaro-Siza-Promenade. The private area, where the production facilities are located, can only be accessed as part of an architectural tour. Please note that only guides of the Vitra Design Museum are allowed to conduct guided tours through the exhibition and on the Vitra Campus. More information about the buildings
