Gerrit Rietveld – The Revolution of Space
17 May 2012 – 16 September 2012
Dutch architect and designer Gerrit Rietveld was one of the most important representatives of modernism. He created icons such as the Red Blue Chair and the Rietveld Schröder House, transferring the rigorous compositions of Piet Mondrian and other members of the De Stijl movement into objects and space. The exhibition wants to shed light on the life and work of the Dutch architect and designer Gerrit Rietveld. In particular, it looks at Rieveld’s personal and professional environment, thus revealing, who he was inspired by and who, in return, he influenced.
