Material Matters! Materials always exert an influence on the design and production of a given piece of furniture. The focus tour provides an opportunity to explore the diversity of materials in furniture design from its beginnings up to the present day and to learn about surprising material experiments.

On the occasion of this year's Basel Museums Night, we will transform the Vitra Campus into a dream world of light and shadow. Situated between the conscious and the subconscious, the world of dreams explored by the Surrealists emerges as a visual and physical experience as visitors enter the Fire Station’s interactive light installation. A mask-building workshop and guided tours of the exhibition give visitors the opportunity to learn more about Surrealism and design.
