The collection of the Vitra Design Museum ranks among the most important holdings of furniture design worldwide. It contains some 7000 pieces of furniture, a vast assemblage of lighting objects and numerous archives, as well as the Collection of the Eames Office, or the estates of Verner Panton and Alexander Girard. On 4 June 2016 the Vitra Schaudepot was opened, created by the architectural firm Herzog & de Meuron, in which the Vitra Design Museum presents key pieces of its collection.

The Vitra Design Museum shop offers a wide selection of design objects and publications, including products from the Vitra Design Museum, selected Vitra products and offerings by other design manufacturers. With the opening of the Schaudepot, you can find the Vitra Design Museum shop at two locations: at the VitraHaus and at the Schaudepot. Our book range includes not only the Vitra Design Museum’s exhibition catalogues, but also a selection of over 300 specialist publications on design and architecture. Many products can be found in our online shop.
For over twenty years, the Vitra Design Museum has independently published exhibition catalogues and other literature on design, architecture and everyday culture. The spectrum of publications includes paperbacks as well as major monographic works; the subjects range from Le Corbusier, George Nelson and Jean Prouvé to domestic culture in the Arab world or future technologies. All of the books, which are richly illustrated and elaborately designed, contain scholarly essays by renowned authors. They are intended for interested general readers as well as researchers and scholars. To date, the Vitra Design Museum has published over 45 books in a total of nine different languages, with the addition of at least two new books every year.
The Vitra Design Museum miniatures are among the most successful museum products of the last decades. They present the most important classics of modern furniture design on a 1:6 scale. Construction, material and colours correspond to the historical original in the Vitra Design Museum’s furniture collection, right down to the last detail. The miniatures have not only become demanded collector’s items, but are also valuable illustrative material for universities, schools and architects. For each miniature there is a licence agreement with the designer or his estate. Many designers collaborate with us to develop the miniatures of their own designs and offer their assistance by supplying information on the objects. In return, we honour the designer’s copyright by paying royalties.
The accessories and re-editions of the Vitra Design Museum are based on works of great designers with historic significance, which are produced as true-to-the original, high-quality reeditions. Alongside small furniture items, they include luminaries, cushions and other items of home decoration, among the designers are legends like George Nelson, Isamu Noguchi or Verner Panton. Just like the Vitra Design Museum exhibitions, these products show that design is an important part of our everyday culture. They bring atmosphere and personality into the most diverse interiors, enriched with the unique aura of design history.
