In June 2016, the Vitra Design Museum will open the Schaudepot for the presentation and study of its collection. A number of other leading design museums are also renewing their focus on their collections as a basis for their own work, but also as a vehicle for presenting and elucidating the history and future of design. Martin Roth, Director of the Victoria & Albert Museum in London, and Christoph Thun-Hohenstein, Director of the Austrian Museum for Applied Arts in Vienna, have been highly successful in attracting millions of visitors to their outstanding international collections. Together with the Director of the Vitra Design Museum, Mateo Kries, they will discuss how their collections are helping them to reinvent the design museum for the twenty-first century. Free admission
