Guided tour »Balkrishna Doshi: Architecture for the People« (DE)The architect and urban planner Balkrishna Doshi (*1927 in Pune, India) is recognized as the most significant pioneer of modern architecture in India. In over 60 years of practice, Doshi has realized nearly 100 projects and in 2018 was recognized for his achievements with the renowned Pritzker Prize. While touring the major retrospective, visitors will become acquainted with Doshi’s work through numerous drawings, models, art works, photographs, film footage and several full-scale installations, thereby gaining a better understanding of his close relationships with other influential architects such as Le Corbusier or Louis Kahn. 125 cm³ MATERIAL: Handling Session | SPECIAL (DE)The special presentation »125 cm³ MATERIAL« showcases selected study projects of the architecture and interior design programmes at the Hochschule für Technik Stuttgart. For the MaterialSTUDIO collection of the HFT Stuttgart, students each investigated a material of their choice, from which they created a traditional and innovative, common and unfamiliar cubes of material. Visitors to the »Handling Session« at the Vitra Schaudepot Lab can handle materials and learn more about this research project from Prof. Lutz Dickmann, Faculty of Architecture and Design at the HFT Stuttgart.
