Balkrishna V. Doshi (1927–2023) ranks among the leading pioneers of modern architecture in India. While his early collaborations with Le Corbusier and Louis I. Kahn had a significant impact on his architecture, he had a deep understanding of local needs and building traditions as well. In 2018, he was awarded the Pritzker Prize for his life’s work. Jan Schmidt-Garre’s empathetic portrait highlights Doshi’s focus on the intimate link between people and the built environment. Prior to the film, he will talk about his experiences during its making and explain his cinematic approach to Doshi’s works.
