Our media partner ARTE joins us in inviting you to an exceptional double feature night at Stadtkino Basel. A screening of two documentaries about internationally acclaimed fashion designers Dries Van Noten and Martin Margiela is followed by a session with the director, Reiner Holzemer, who will talk about his work.

»DRIES« documents a year in the life of Belgian fashion designer Dries Van Noten. A very personal portrait, the film shows the creation of four collections and sheds light on the philosophy and creativity of one of the last fashion designers to remain independent of vast corporations and global trends.

»Martin Margiela – In His Own Words« explores the work ofone of the most influential fashion designers of our time. Margiela was assistant to Jean-Paul Gaultier and creative director for Hermès. For his own label, he created 41 collections that challenge fashion conventions in radical ways – as does his relentless commitment to anonymity. »Hollywood Reporter« named Holzemer’s film as the best fashion documentary of the decade.

Runway Ready: Designing Fashion Make-up

Jasmin Berger lives in Zurich and works internationally as a make-up artist and hair stylist. She regularly travels to fashion capitals such as London, Milan and Paris, where she contributes to renowned fashion shows for brands such as Balenciaga, Vivienne Westwood, Blumarine, Diesel, Valentino, Mugler, Ferragamo and Vetements.

At her presentation at the Vitra Design Museum, Berger will share exclusive insights into behind the scenes of the international high fashion world. She will also perform a live demonstration of one of her signature make-up looks – a design she originally created for Vetements.
